A few months back while I was admiring a large hoarding of 'The World' in Shekh Zayed Rd, the taxi driver driver turned to me and said "Do you know who is going live in these palms and islands?".
When I did not offer any answer he remarked with a straight face, "All the world's richest criminals and drug dealers".
"Yeah?".
"Well, can you think of a safer place for people like that to live where nobody (Interpol, FBI etc) can hunt them down?".
If there was no hint of surprise in my face, it would probably because Dubai had a bad reputation of being a safe haven for criminals; and really rich ones at that. But times have changed, and Dubai has more responsibility being in the spotlight for much better reasons. So I was quite surprised after seeing this article in ProperT.ae magazine.
It briefly talks about the Sales and Marketing Director of MED(Middle East Development), Mr. Nigel K Russell who apparently ' brought the concept of Apartment Residences in the UAE' and and was 'a pioneer in selling condos in the US during the 80's'. Pioneer he was, according to this website which states he is a wanted man for non-payment to his clients, deception, assault and other cases. There is even a Yahoo group set up by people who has been cheated by this pioneer. For all those who are planning to embrace MEDs concept of 'Apartment Residences', I wish you all the luck in the world; especially since he got fired from another reputed real-estate company in UAE an year back after they found out about his illustrious career.
UPDATE: Apparently Nigel has been fired from MED last week and has disappeared again. Probably to the UK.

The above article is correct. Nigel is a professional con man. Watch out also for his supposed wife, Tracy Russell.

Nigel is certainly not a professional conman. When he left MED It was under a mutual agreement because he had failed to disclose his sentence in the US. The Sheik had to let him go in case of any bad press being associated with MED, however he still had strong contacts in Dubai and with the sheik personally, some of the posts on this site are ludacris.
I know this has been down for quite some time. But is anyone able to tell me how Nigel Russell has conned them or what he has done? nobody appears to be able to give any specifics. I'm wondering as I have recently heard about him through some people in the North of England where he is very active, and wondering if my friends who have business with him should stay clear
I think Nigel`s record speaks for itself convicted in the US for fraud and other charges,this is a man without scrupples and not to be trusted. People who take money from other people with the intention to deceive should be classed as a common criminal. The impact on people he has stolen from is overwelming and he should be stopped.The Liverpool Echo ran an article on him and he currently lives in Tarporley in Cheshire

Nigel Russell of Penlake has duped many people to buy student premises with the guarantee of assured rent for the first year.He has stopped payments for six months now.Another company he runs "Middle England Developments" presumably could step in to pay his debts but it's doubtful.He is under investigation by Action Fraud, government based group who have urged any investors experiencing the same problem to call them on;0300 123 2040. He must be stopped before he does another runner, although there are few places who would accept him now.

Nigel and his company Penlake/Middle England are currently causing havoc in Liverpool England. Buildings unfinished, investors unpaid for 8 months, rental assurance ignored etc etc etc. An investors group is apparently appointing a new management company to take over. Nigel and his "wife" conned over 500 investors in student accommodations in Liverpool this year.
They paid no rental income to the owners since December 2012, and "rented" public areas in the buildings for their own profit

looks like the mf uses a vanity address of tarporley CW6 0HZ for his directorships registered address that seems to be much closer to tarvin in cheshire. Its nowhere near tarporley on the map

It is clear the Nigel has conned over 500 people in Liverpool, by selling them student accommodations, promising return of investment. However, some of the building are in such bad shape that they can not get license. Nigel is now trying to take over the buildings, by sabotaging water supply and claiming more money from the investors. His company went into receivership, but he still claim ownership of freeholds.
No doubt he has cheated many many people.
Nigel and Tracy are crooks and need to be stopped!
They failed to pay the construction companies that performed work on the Liverpool housing. They then failed to pay guaranteed rental amounts to investors.
They then used the rent collected for themselves.
Currently he is claiming control of freeholds and further trying to embezzle funds from investors.
Hopefully he ends up in jail again.

Thankfully this swine is to appear in Liverpool Magistrates Court 15/08/2017 to answer charges of fraud and forgery. Hopefully he shall be locked away for a long time. A vile man.
I was at school with Russell and went on to open a painting and decorating business with him. he paid for his own goods out of company funds and left me to pay his tax bill, even though we were mates for over 10 years..seeing him being arrested for fraud didn't surprise me
The charges against this creep are so serious that the case is being moved from magistrates court to the high court. Some serious jail time awaits him I hope.
The Orlando Sentinal newspaper from 1991 describes Nigel Russel as a " a burglar, a swindler and a petty thief". This description is, I think, rather kind to Russell. I can think of quite a few other words to describe him. Happily Iam sure that Karma shall get him in the end.
I knew Nigel back in his Florida Shark days. He was a tall, good looking Brit wearing an expensive suit who drove a Mercedes and later a black Ferrari. He made a good first impression.
He absolutely is a con man. All of his real estate closings were a mad rush to payoff only those contractors and licensors who had not been charmed into not perfecting their liens. Most of his victims were buyers from England, local sub-contractors and local banks. He too lazy to make his through hard work.
